Farewell to a Friend

Today our friend and guitarist Josh Morales posted on his Facebook page about his retirement from Vacation Manor. After much talking and deliberating we all felt that this had to happen eventually. However logical it might be the loss is still real. We'll miss Josh's exuberant energy on and off stage and his humor and good nature with us on the road. Below is Josh's original post explaining the situation.

Hey everybody, Josh Morales here.

For those that know me and are interested, you know that I have been apart of the band Vacation Manor for a little over two years now. I play guitar and do background vocals for the band. We have gone from playing a battle of the bands for a college event to releasing two singles and an EP, which is currently getting radio time in different cities and in stores all over the country. We’ve played festivals, bars, record stores, college cafeterias, coffee shops, etc. The band is on a good path to doing amazing things, and I can say that I am proud to be a part of the journey. Something I have learned is that though something may be successful, and will continue to be, if you aren’t passionate about what you are doing, you simply won’t find joy in it.

I love each and every one of my bandmates in Vacation Manor. I have held this off for the better part of the year, because I just love playing with them. If you have been to our shows, you know that it’s a wild ride from beginning to end. I have had some of the best memories and best experiences of my life with this band. With that all being said, I have decided that I will no longer be a part of Vacation Manor. After months of talking with my wife, talking with the guys, trying different things out, I believe that this is the best decision for my family and for the band.

I am sincerely going to miss performing with Cole, Nathan, and Dane. I know that they are cooking up some amazing tunes, and I will always continue to hope that God blesses their work as Vacation Manor with success. As for me, and what this means for me as a musician and an artist, this isn’t the end.

I am primarily a singer and a songwriter. That's my "thing", and I am thrilled to say that I am currently working with my very good friend, Nicholas Purvis, on releasing some music very soon. I have been writing and working on these songs with Nick for this entire year, and I am more than excited to begin this new chapter in my music career.

So with all that being said (and thank you for reading it all if you did) I just want end this by saying how grateful I am for this opportunity that I was able to have. It's been great to get to know so many people, especially in the Lynchburg community, and I'm thankful for those friendships. I promise not be be a stranger.

Much love,
- Josh

New Merch!

This past month has been a whirlwind with traveling and all the other work we've been doing behind the scenes but we're still actively playing shows and looking to play more all the time. We've been lucky enough to be invited to play at Liberty University's yearly Block Party to play alongside Dave Barnes and Colony House. In order to celebrate the occasion, we've got some new merch that will be released exclusively at the show. We also have more handmade shirts that we just made and some more of our logo shirts. So come on out on September 3rd and stop by our merch table!

For those of you who aren't able to make the show, don't worry! We'll be updating our website with a new Merch page for ecommerce in the near future. In the meantime, if you'd like to buy anything feel free to email us at info@vacationmanorband.com and we can work something out. As always, thanks for sticking with us guys and look forward to more updates in the future when we post about new merch and shows possibly in your area.

Much love,
The VM Boys

Girl, Say EP Release!

Well guys it's finally here! We've been working on this for a long time now and we're so excited to share it with you. We want to say a special thanks to everyone who donated and worked on this record with us. Special shout out to Kyle Cummings for bringing out the best in us and get us polished before pushing us out of the nest. We also want to thank Carson Cody for his wonderful work both in the studio and on stage. (Hopefully we'll have a full writeup on him soon.) And finally thanks to all of our wonderful friends and family who believed in us while we were still playing music late into the night and disturbing the neighbors and bore with it anyway. This whole process has been an amazing experience and now we're itching to play more shows and hang out, dance, and yell with you guys. Thanks everyone!

Much Love,

Nate, Dane, Cole, and Josh aka the VM Boys.

Making The Transition

Same people. Same music. New name.

Over the last few months, we began to notice our name holding us back in terms of growth. A few other bands with the name Native Spirit starting popping up recently and we have found it best to begin a fresh start. While we’re sad to leave behind a name that’s encapsulated our band for the past year and a half, it seemed like a prime time to make the switch as we’re on verge of releasing our first EP and get ready to play exciting shows over these next few months.

After many conversations and disagreeing on name after name, we finally came up with Vacation Manor. We agreed that this name reflected our music well while also representing our story. At the start of the band Josh and I (Nathan) were still working and living in the DC area, often using our vacation days to go down to Lynchburg, VA to practice and write new material with Cole and Dane. We had some friends that were kind enough to let us practice and sleep in their basement during the beginning phase of the band and this is where we wrote our first few songs and prepared for some of the first shows we ever played. Many of our best memories were made in that house and it’s really come to represent our roots, as well as the communal and relational aspects of our band that tie us together as friends, not musicians only.

So with that being said, we’re excited to welcome you into this next phase as Vacation Manor. We’re also looking forward to introducing you to the new EP that will be released this Spring!

Much Love,
